Brow Lift Q & A
What is a brow lift?
A brow lift is a form of cosmetic surgery that reduces the wrinkles and lines across your forehead - it’s often called a forehead lift.
During brow lift surgery at Koch Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Koch might also attend to other cosmetic problems, such as frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), sagging eyebrows, and wrinkles on the bridge of the nose.
Brow lifts offer a long-term solution to these common signs of aging, saving you the hassle of having regular Botox® injections or dermal fillers. It's important that you understand what the surgery involves and the results you're likely to achieve, which Dr. Koch can discuss with you in detail at your consultation.
What does a brow lift involve?
Dr. Koch uses a minimally invasive endoscopic technique to perform the gold-standard version of brow lift surgery. He makes small incisions beneath your hair that allow him to insert an endoscope – a narrow tube through which Dr. Koch can pass specially designed surgical instruments.
Using the endoscopic instruments, Dr. Koch lifts the skin and tissues on your forehead and repositions them to flatten the wrinkles. He inserts a device under your skin that keeps the tissues in their new position but isn’t visible from outside.
The result is a smooth, more youthful-looking forehead and eyebrow area.
What happens when I have a brow lift?
Dr. Koch usually performs brow lift surgery on an outpatient basis with twilight sedation to keep you comfortable and relaxed. The procedure can take 60 to 90 minutes, and you need to wear a pressure bandage for 24 hours afterward.
An endoscopic brow lift is likely to cause some swelling and bruising, but this should start to improve within the first week following your surgery. You should avoid strenuous exercise and not wash your hair during this period. Most patients need at least a week at home to recover after a brow lift.
Once you heal, you can appreciate the rejuvenating effects of your brow lift. Your face looks fresher, less tired and drawn, and you could look years younger.
